Our request to build and install a Big Bench overlooking the Vipava Valley, a few hundreds meters from the castle has been approved by the Big Bench Community Project
We have also got the authorization to install it on the grounds belonging to the castle in an area that is currently freely accessible to everyone, so everyone will be able to enjoy it!
The BBCP really appreciated the location we suggested, so we are very happy because this project will make the valley gain more popularity as the Big Bench Project is a trend phenomenon. The Big Bench of Lože will be a giant bench, 2 meters high, 3.5 wide and 3 quintals heavy, located in a panoramic spot like many others in the BBCP network
. This one at Lože will be the first installation in Slovenia! We are collecting donations to hit our target of 5000 euros to buy the material (welded structure, wooden boards, paint) and pay producers.
We are also happy to hear from you if you are a local producer or a local business and want to contribute to this project with work, material or with a sponsorship.
Evgen Mayer, the last owner of Lože Castle until the Second World Was was passionate about his woodland, gardens and vineyards. We would love to collect all the means to restore overgrown woodlands and check for trees vulnerable to storm damage, as a first step to recover and reverse years of decline.
Lože Castle and its connected buildings are in need of a full restoration and repair of doors and windows to prevent, as they were destroyed by vandals to get in the building and take away architectural and decorative elements, staircases, floor tiles.
